In December 1972 it was announced that East Moors Steelworks was to close within five years. An official campaign ‘Steel Must Stay’ started to try and save East Moors from closure. Badges, like this one, were worn to show support for the campaign. Despite these efforts, East Moors stopped production on 28th April 1978.
