A wooden frame with a collection of medals won by and badges given to Glyn Matthews during his time with Roath Harriers Athletic Club. Glyn was the captain of track for the Roath Harriers and represented both Glamorgan and Wales at Athletics.
The fabric badges were given to Glyn when he was invited to run for Glamorgan. Glyn began running with Roath Harriers in either 1944 or 1945 when he was 16/17 years old. Glyn cannot remember when the frame was put together, but newspaper articles in his scrapbook show that he competed for Glamorgan and Wales from at least 1948.
The Roath Harriers formed in 1882, and was the first athletics club in Wales. The club later merged with Birchgrove Harriers in 1968, to form Cardiff Amateur Athletics Club, which it remains as to this day.
