This doll (named Peter) belonged to Gwen Llywelyn (Llilian Gwendolyn Llywelyn) who lived on Whitchurch Road. The doll possibly came from the antiques shop that her father used to own.
In 1941, the family had to leave their house in Llandaff due to the bombing. When the family returned to the house they found that the roof had collapsed, but that Peter and the cat had survived. By this time Gwen had given the doll to her daughter, Margaret, although Margaret never played with Peter.
Dolls like Peter were popular toys of the 20th century, and remain so to this day.
