As Cardiff’s population grew so did the need for religious buildings for it to worship in.
This trowel was presented to the Mayor of Cardiff, Thomas Andrews, when he laid the foundation stone of the Central Congregational Church in April 1901. Designed by Beddoe Rees, the chapel was built in Windsor Place. It was later converted to a synagogue and demolished after the Second World War.
