Robert Hawkins remembers his father who used this tomahawk: "My father, George Hawkins used this tomahawk on the docks. He worked on Queen Alexandra Dock. He used to grab onto the timber coming from Scandinavia with it, unload and drag them to the saws to be cut down to the correct size for pit props for mines in the Valleys. His nickname on the docks was Losin (Welsh for sweet) because his wife worked at Frank's sweet factory in Grangetown. She'd give him the off cuts of the sweets to take down to his workmates. When I started work on the docks, I was nicknamed pear drop, you know, son of Losin!"
