This sourvenir card was given to Mrs Ryman after she went on a flight leaving from Pengam airport in Cardiff. Mrs Ryman's sister, Lill also went on a flight and used to blame her later deafness on going up too high in a plane.
Pengam airport opened in 1930 when the flight took place and by the 1950s had the third highest aircraft movement rate in Britain by the 1950s. However, in 1954 all civil flying transferred to Rhoose and Pengam airport became an industrial site.
