Mark Etheridge remembers partying at Club X:
“I first went out on the gay scene in Cardiff in about 1988 when I went to the Red Dragon (where M&S is now at Cardiff Central Station). Then I started going regularly to places like the Kings Cross on the Hayes, and Exit and Club X on Charles Street, especially after coming back from University in 1991. Not being fully out in the early 1990s I would often go to straight venues with friends and then head down to Exit or Club X afterwards!
I am not sure when this card dates from, but I first went to Club X in about 1991, so I would guess it’s mid 1990s as I don’t remember having to have a membership card much later than that.
In August 2001 I met my partner at Club X (well actually in the bar above X that was named Edge at the time I think) and we got married in 2015; so Club X holds a very special personal memory to me.”
