This placard was held by a protestor at the Cardiff Womens March which took place on 21 January 2017, the day after Donald Trump was sworn in as President of the United States of America. Marches took place in towns and cities across the United Kingdom in solidarity with women marching in Washington DC and throughout America. Women marched against the new President’s stance towards women and women’s issues.
Leanne Freeman went on the Cardiff Women’s March, she recalls: “I took my daughter and it was really nice actually, …it was nice to be able to do something that wasn’t just talking or having a winge. …I think it’s really important that we do what we can, whether that’s going to local marches or joining local groups about LGBQT, about disabilities, about feminism, because I think with Brexit in this country, with Trump, with the cuts that are happening to social services, the NHS, to education, I think there are some worrying times ahead. If we can all do what we can, whether that’s even just voting when we should be voting, collectivism is so important.”
