This card game is called Whot, and belonged to Ira Mills-Calford, who grew up on Manor Street in Cardiff in the 1950s. Ira remembers playing different games with her friends in their garden sheds.
Whot is played by matching the shape or number on the card with what the previous player had played, similarly to how Uno is played today.

Physical descriptionA paper card box containing a pack of the game ‘Whot.’ The cards are numbered, and have different shapes (triangle, circle, cross, star) in the centre. The backs of the cards have an orange, art-deco style illustration on them, with the name ‘Whot.’ Also contains a paperback rules booklet.
