TitleThe Merrymakers Accordion Club
-
The Merrymakers Accordion Club became well known during the Second World War for entertaining munition workers and injured soldiers. Hilda Banwell is fondly remembered as a dedicated music teacher by many Cardiff locals. At least one married couple met as teenagers in the accordion band!
“Hilda demanded full attention whilst we played. If someone stood up to do something else or to leave she would stop and walk out herself!” – George Hodges, former student
