The Cardiff Waxworks opened in 1885 on St. Mary Street. It quickly became a favourite for people visiting Cardiff for leisure or on business.
Pamela Tardo remembers her mother telling her about the wax works: “As a child my mother lived opposite the wax works on St Mary’s Street and when she went to bed her brothers would do their best to scare her!”
